Shower in a 3rd World Country
4th January 2006, Wednesday
Imagine this...
You had a fantastic cardio workout for a good 40 minutes...you are soaked in perspiration and felt revitalised for the work for the remaining of your day.
After an adequate amount of warming down, you decided to hit the showers and hope the cool, refreshing water can wash away all hard work you had pitted in...
However you encountered a scene all to familiar as it is just an re-enactment to what had happened not to too ago... you just could not feel the gush of water on your face as you turned the knob.... first there was a gradual yet sluggish flow of water at the brim of the shower head then as you turned the knob anticlockwise to activate the water heater the water is relegated to a few drips and then nothing...
Man... how you would expect one to wash up with such kind of 3rd world country amenities...
This is what happened after gym this afternoon when once more the troubled water pressure system of the gym has once more became a topic to debauch upon...
Anyway in the end like others I am not too into washing myself too thoroughly and then spend like half an hour just scooping whatever drips of water you can salvage with your hands and splash onto your body, hopefully it would be enough to wash away the soap...
Then for the rear of the body, you just had to lean on your back to the wall with the showerhead affixed and hopefully whatever amount of water that flows down due gravity is suffice to do the proper cleaning...
It is pathetic I tell ya...and we can't blame the gym staff because they are supposed to guide you with the work out and not to fix the amentities in the building which now pin-point to the "state of the art" condition the contractors had warranted since they started embarking on the construction of this place...
Anyway that aside with the school reopening since yesterday, the rushing to work/school crowd has swelled considerably since the last 2 months which can be a hassle if you ask me...but then it would still be better than stuck in a traffic jam if you suggest me to buy a car...
We had yet another new attachment student from one of the polytechnics, the 4th in as many month..
As Lance is finishing his stint in a couple of weeks time, this Malay girl whose name I could never register permenantly in my brain will once more serve on the platter for us to savage on her time and effort to do those monotonous and routine prep all day, all week, all month, all year....

Japanese word of the day: シャワー~sha-waa~ (Shower) Seriously they could consider getting one of those huge china pot filled with gallons of water for us to scoop and shower together, much like the olden days..
