Best to Stay Indoors this Rainy Season

10th December 2007, Monday

The monsoon season has arrived in full force...Downpour is expected almost everyday and yesterday the rain came and went intermittently throughout making it an ideal Sunday to just stay at home and rot...
Which I did exactly, just watching TV or catching up my backlog of shows in the PC, totally immersed into the cool weather and the notion to be entertained..
Meanwhile my missus is home-bound as well and just couldn't resist taking an afternoon nap...

Caught the "Stars Award: the 25th Anniversary Show" as Mediacorp (previously known as TCS or SBC in previous incarnations) honored the 25th in the business of local Mandarin drama making...
I am a very nostalgic person and was looking forward to see some old actors who had disappeared from the silver screen after being part of my childhood (Don't really follow local drama 'cos the storyline didn't differ much)...
The oldies came in full force but still there would be at least 50% of the actors I had yearned to make an appearance having a no-show such as Zhen Huifeng, Cherie Lim, Huang Xiang Qing, Hong Peixing, Sherrie Chen, Zhang Shuifa, Thomas Ong just to name a few..even wouldn't mind seeing misfits such as Robin Leong, James Lye, Michelle Goh, Jerry Chang who all at one time contributed to the local drama scene...Xie Shaoguang, one of most popular and perhaps the most talented actor in Caldecott Hill decided to cuddle with his soulmate, Qi Yiwu at their little animal sanctuary across the Causeway despite winning an award while Li Nanxing most probably wanted to save the awkwardness to meet up his ex-wife was another major absentee...
Then for the rest of the 3 hours show (about 1/3 on repetitive commercials), it focused mainly on the usual suspects gaining popularity and no mention what-so-ever to those old alumni except for some of the really old ones...
As the report mentioned, everyone who came should be granted sometime to say something instead of wasting them seeing the winners imprinting their hand prints etc...
Nevertheless there is still that fuzzy feeling seeing some familiar faces... I really hope there was a follow-up on the anniversary or at least come out with an archive special of sort to list all the actors that had participated in one series or another...

On Saturday, I started clearing the limited space I had in the room as well as the living room...
I felt it's wise to just flatten all the packaging boxes I wanted to keep (RE: nostalgic again) of the figurines I had purchased over the years and boy after doing so as well as clearing some stuff I really don't need, I suddenly had some space to spare for new figurines for the next year or so...
Ultimately the absence of the weekly badminton free up some time for me to commit in the cleaning-up and I am actually looking forward for more progressively clearing up in the coming weeks as well as doing my own archives of my collection...

Accompanied the missus to her house-call to do facial for an ex-colleague at Bedok Reservoir...
Had intended to just stay within the vicinity of the void deck, indulging in my NDS with my new-found addiction, "ASH: Archiac Sealed Heat"...
However nature's call en route to the east town and had an awkward moment to take a leak at a stranger's place...
I waas made to wait at the living room then with DIsney Channel on cable, a sleeping dog who got cranky when it was awoken, and a smoking father-in-law with special cameo with my missus with one of her new-born twins...
The entire facial appointment lasted 2 and half hours and I wonder how incensed I would get if I was left at the void deck all along...
We set off to Kallang by 7.30pm but missed the exit on CTE and had to figure out an alternative route there via the city...

The entire gang was present with the exception of Vincent & Miyano in yet another business trip to Japan as well as Chan who was on speed-dating (baseless) and it was time for one of our favorite past-time, karaoke..well at least to most of them...
It was also the best time to hit the K Box, just above the store as they had for a limited time $10 per person inclusive of a drink and snacks....So the crooning began as we worked that vocal chords till wee hours into Sunday...of course we needed another drink which cost as much as the fee itself...fortunately the bill was foot by La Tendo for all our help with the setting up of the store...
Oh yeah K Box had managed to impress me with the beefing up of their selection of J pop hits with the videos quite tastefully made in animation format unlike those cheesy ones seen in the likes of Diamond Dust...

The weekend must be really sweet for Man Utd fans who preferred to stay home for the weekly EPL bonanza as both ARSEnal and LiverPOO were beaten away by Middlesborough and Reading respectively and now the Red Devils are a mere point behind the Gunners on the summit of the table.. setting everything nicely for the double header this week as Man Utd travels to Anfield, hopefully to add further woes to the Reds after their postulated ousting by Marseilles in the Champions League while I hope that the London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal would ended in a draw...watch this space then...

No matter what the weather is just great to just curl up in the warmth of your home as X'mas comes knocking...

Japanese word of the day: 屋内(Indoors) Not when you are in a stranger house with a chain-smoking old man and a rabid dog
