Becoming a Nusiance
5th May 2006, Friday
I'm in trouble....
On the eve of the polling day, I am still clueless who should I cast my vote for...It would be better if there had been a walk over in my constituency and I am as enthusiatic about this election as I am to watching a whole game of cricket....
Perhaps I could just go down to the booth tomorrow, examine the logo of each running party carefully and decide whether I am more into a thunder bolt or a mallet.
But seriously, I wonder would my vote be good for myself and most importantly the good for the people in this country for the next few years..my parents raised the valid points about the impending hike of GSt to 7% soon (Japan is raising theirs as well soon) and escalating utilities and power bill which can be rather overwhelming for a middle income household like ours. The recent relentless Gomez-gate also left a bad taste in many people's mouths.
Enough of poilitics as the old TV series on weekdays at 3 pm on Channel 5 would sing.. ~Que Sera Sera, Whatever will be will be~~
This Friday was blipped by that torrential rain which wrecked everyone's smooth journey to work and I was really fortunate to hop on to the shuttle bus just as it was about to depart from the pick-up point.
Recently Dad got to drive his company's Hyundai truck and surely come in handy to send me to the MRT station every morning (though I had missed the 7.15 am direct service threshold for 3 out of 4 days this week) and even picked me from work for the past 2 evenings..surely save some pennies with my expenses suddenly surging recently with payment for this and that.
Talking about convieniences with transport, my father-in-laws (yes he is grabbing all the headlines these days) met with an accident yesterday while seeking convieniences via his son's car.
They had collided with an on-rushing cab with impact on the driver's end and thus he had to seek medical help from the National University Hospital.
This was made known to me when my mother-in-laws who has difficulty travelling from destination to destination on the MRT called and sought my assistance on the proper way to go down to NUH.
Back home, when I broke the news to my mother who puts "face" in the forefront, chastise me for being reluctant to pay my lass' father a visit in the hospital, insisting that by doing so is an indication of their upbringing as well as giving "face" to my lass.
But isn't him the same guy who brought the household endless misery with his gimmicks over the months... the man my lass had unofficially disowned as her flesh and blood....
Later on when being constantly cajoled by my mom, I got an update from my mother-in-laws that he is actually fine, just a few fractured bones on the arm and hospitaliize to further check on the backlash of the accident on his neck.If everything is fine, he should be discharging by today.
The wrecked car is now in the workshop and since they are not at fault, the repair should generally being covered by insurance, which is a blessing since no extra cost was incurred to compund more misery on the household.
My brother-in-laws who is in the car as well during the accident, escaped unaffected, so generally everything is not blown out of proportion.
My mother-in-laws had requested to keep this incident from my lass, so as not to add on to her douldrums about her household and could better devoting her concentration on her course.
However after guaging the seriousness of the whole issue, I felt I should let my closest soul mate know about it when she called just a while back.
I don't know but my father-in-laws surely had become a nusiance in my life in recent times with all the misery he brought to my lass and her family and indirectly affecting me as well, especially when my parents started to force me to do things I am least willing to, just for the sake of "face"....
My old man might have a really bad temperament and can be remotely sensitive to my mom's feelings at times but he is quadrillion to the power of infinity better than that irritant now lying in NUH.
At least he keeps his feet on the ground and provide for the family as the head of the household should and most importantly does not have the tedency to fool around outside, impregnanting any fat Taiwanese slut who had ulterior motives even a blind can see.
Sigh, I just want my lass to be truly happy when she enters my family and get rid of whatever problem her father had brought...
On to a happy weekend and let's hope my usual pilgrimage would not be hindered by the very fact that La Tendo is located just beside the election department which could be well barricaded for tomorrow's proceedings.

Japanese word of the day: 迷惑(Nuisance) Well at least he need not have to bother with voting tomorrow since he is hospitalized.
